Overview
Southern India Ayurvedic Tour is well designed package, during the tour you will enjoy rejuvenating meditation and yoga sessions along with refreshing Ayurveda massages apart from this you will also enjoy the local sightseeing’s, stunning beaches, temples, historical sights and many more. This tour will give you the complete relaxation which rejuvenate your mind and body. The duration of the tour is 14 nights and 15 days, covering Mumbai, Chennai, Kanchipuram, Mahabalipuram (Mamallapuram), Thanjavur, Swamimalai, Trichy and Chennai.
Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Mumbai
Upon arrival in Mumbai, meet our representative, after welcome proceed to the hotel. Mumbai is one of the 6th largest and populated Megacity of the world which is known as the financial, commercial and entertainment capital of India. The city is renowned for its vibrant lifestyle, which conceded as the city that never sleeps.
Check in to the hotel. Rest day is free at leisure. Enjoy the nightlife of the colourful city, explore the Chowpatty beach and test the mouth-watering street foods. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 02: Mumbai Sightseeing
Today after breakfast, proceed for sightseeing in and Mumbai. You will visit the major tourist attractions such as Prince of Wales Museum, Hanging Gardens, Juhu Beach, Gateway of India and Marine Drive. Later Visit the Elephanta Caves, on Elephanta Island, transports you back 6th and 7th century centuries. The magnificent rock-cut carvings here are some of the most spectacular you will get to see anywhere. After sightseeing return back to the hotel. Overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 03: Mumbai-Chennai (by air)Sightseeing
After having an early breakfast, get transferred to the airport to board a flight for Chennai. It is the capital of Tamil Nadu, which is known for its rich culture and traditions. Earlier the city was known as Madras, layers of history that made this city as one of the most vibrant city of southern part of India. Its spectacular beaches, enhanced the beauty of the city.
On arrival at Chennai, check in to the hotel, rest day is free at leisure. The major tourist attractions in Chennai include the Fort St. George, St. Thomas Mount, San Thome Cathedral, Kapaleeswar Temple and the National Art Gallery. In the evening visit the beautiful Marina. Don’t try swimming at Marina beach since there are strong currents present along the shoreline and no rescue equipment’s and lifeguards are available at this beach. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 04: Chennai-Kanchipuram-Chennai (By Road-75 Kilometres)Sightseeing
Post breakfast, leave for a day-trip to Kanchipuram, a small city of the southern region of India, housing several ancient temples. The major Kanchipuram tourist attractions include visits to the Kailasanthar Temple, Ekambareshwarar Temple, The Vardarajanperumal Temple and the Sakkiswarar Temple.
You can also visit its popular handloom, cotton and silk emporiums to shop for some amazing saris. Back to Chennai for an overnight stay.
Day 05: Chennai-Mahabalipuram (By Road-56 Kilometres)
Post breakfast, leave by road for drive towards Mahabalipuram. It is also known as Mamallapuram, it is a historical town and this 7th century former port city is famous for its rock-cut shore temples. It is also a great destination for lazy beach holiday with sea, sand and sun.
On reaching Mahabalipuram, check-in at your pre-booked hotels. Rest day is free at leisure. Overnight at hotel.
Day 06: Mahabalipuram
After breakfast, proceed to the sightseeing tour of Mahabalipuram. During the tour you will cover the 7th century architectural marvels- Arjuna’s Penance, Five Rathas and Shore Temple. Later, return back to the hotel. Have dinner and overnight stay at hotel.
Day 07: Mahabalipuram-Thanjavur (By Road- 280 Kilometres)Sightseeing
After having an early breakfast, drive straight to Tanjore. . It is the popular city of Tamil Nadu and an important centre of South Indian Art, culture and religion. It is the home of Tanjore paintings. Apart from this Great Living Chola Temples is one of the most popular temple of the region which come under UNESCO World Heritage Monuments.
On reaching Tanjore, check-in to your pre booked hotel. After freshen up, proceed for a guided city tour of Tanjore including major tourist destinations such as the Vijayanagar Fort, Shiva Ganga Garden, Aalangudi temple, Brahadeshwara temple and the Chandra Bagawan Temple. In the evening return to the hotel for overnight stay at hotel.
Day 08: Thanjavur-Swamimalai (By Road-37 Kilometres)
After breakfast, drive to Swamimalai. It is a small town in Thanjavur District, which is also known as 'God's mountain'. As per mythology, it was one of the six Battle Camps of the Lord Murugan
En-route, take a halt at Chidambaram, and Gangaikonda Cholapuram. On reaching Swamimalai, transfer to one of our listed hotels. Later in the day visit the Swamimalai Murugan Temple. Enjoy a lavish dinner and a comfortable overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 09 to Day 13: Swamimalai (Ayurvedic treatment)
Morning The Ayurveda guru meet you and plan your programme, he will give you some instruction and will also suggest your diet and the therapy commences in right earnest. Please remember that during this period you should not exert yourself and for best result no alcohol, no tobacco and strict vegetarian diet. The therapy involves various herbal massages, steam baths and yoga. If you follow all the directions of the "VAIDYA", we can assure you that you will come out totally relaxed and a great feeling of wellness. Overnight at hotel.
Day 14:Swamimali-Trichy (By Road-75 kms) Sightseeing
Post breakfast in the morning, leave by road for Trichy. It is also known as Tiruchirappalli. It is one of the major city of Tamil Nadu. After freshen up, proceed for sightseeing including Rock Fort temple- erected during the 7th century, it is also known as Ucchi Pillayar Koil, Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, dedicated to Lord Ranganatha that is reclining form of Lord Vishnu, Sri Jambukeshwara Temple, which is 5 main temples of Lord Shiva in Tamil Nadu that was built around 1800 years ago and St. John's Church which was constucted in 1821. Overnight in Trichy.
Day 15:Trichy-Chennai (By Road-300 Kilometres)
